ACADEMIC COACH/SPECIALTY TUTORS
Academic Coaches at The Learning Center (TLC) @ Rod Library serve a variety functions, including, but not limited to 1) providing general academic support; 2) serving as discipline/course-specific content tutors; 3) working at the front desk to assist students with questions and referrals regarding our services and library information and resources.
The primary function of a MATH/STATS TUTOR is help improve students’ understanding of 1000- and 2000-level MATH/STAT content (i.e. Algebra, Calculus, Stats).
The primary function of a SCIENCE TUTOR is to help improve students’ understanding of 1000- and 2000-level SCIENCE content (i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics).
UNI PLUS LEADER
The primary function of a UNI PLUS LEADER is to support students in a specific course and with a specific instructor. UNI PLUS leaders should expect to work at least 9 hours per week. You will be expected to do all of the following: attend and periodically facilitate activities in an assigned class (∼3hrs); meet weekly with host instructor and prep for study sessions (∼2hrs); facilitate weekly study session (∼2hrs); provide regular walk-in tutoring hours in The Learning Center @ Rod Library (∼2hrs).
The primary function of a WRITING COACH is to provide writing feedback and instruction to UNI students writing across diverse disciplines, and work with students to develop mastery and confidence with all phases of the writing process, including planning, drafting, revising, proofreading, avoiding plagiarism, and applying citation styles.
